It’s an honor to invite you to my Insta-Chic Poshparty happening tomorrow night in the Poshmark app! I am beyond excited to be hosting my first official party with Poshmark!! So here’s the deets you need to know:

Friday, March 1st @ 7pm PST inside the free Poshmark App (here) // Theme: Insta-Chic

I’m looking forward to sharing my favorite “Insta-Chic” listings during the Poshparty; so watch out for lots of pretty Twitter & Instagram updates! I love those accessories and garments that just make you feel instantly chic and beautiful! For me, my favorite Insta-Chic garment is my Forever 21 oversized black pea coat with exaggerated collar you see me wearing in the invite photo. (see full #ootd post here) Can you believe I bought that for $13?! Now that’s the best: when you can find Cheap-Chic and become Insta-Chic! HA!

xo, Kate

P.S. As you can probably tell by my recent posts, I LOVE Poshmark. Not just for the fact that I’m making money off selling my clothes (that is super freakin awesome though!) but that I’m finding new fashions to love and new friends! Yes, I’ve connected with some awesome bloggers through Poshmark…even someone local to LA! (http://sparklesandprays.com/) Check out her blog!

Poshmark Closet Cleanse – Shop My Closet!

PoshmarkDo you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear? I know the feeling! Around the first of the year I usually do a full cleanse of my closet and jewelry in order to make room for my new “Christmas clothes” and prepare for the upcoming change in seasons and trends. It became tradition that my mom would take my sister Jessie and I out shopping for clothes as gifts every year but we would of course have to wait until Christmas morning to open them again. I’d spend weeks dreaming of the garments I picked out, planning how to match them with what I already have, and then the morning of I’d be surprised by a few of the pieces I’d completely forgot about! Ah I love the holidays! But of course I’d have to make room for these new pieces to fit…and so began a new tradition of the “Closet Cleanse”!

In the past I’ve donated to Goodwill, shared with my younger sisters (I have two!), and even sold my clothes to second hand shops like Crossroads Trading Co. (in Pasadena, CA) and Plato’s Closet (in Colorado Springs, CO when I lived there a few years ago). I like the idea of giving a garment new life by either donating or selling to a shop where hopefully another girl will fall in love with it! This year I’m trying a new method of cleaning out my closet – I’m selling my clothes online through my new favorite site: Poshmark.

Poshmark is an iPhone app for girls like me who want to share the love of gently used fashionable items and be able to make some money for their unused clothing. This app is a lot of fun because it allows me to put up items for sale in an “instagram style” – they give you filter options for your “cover photo” of a listing. Selling with Poshmark is incredibly easy! They take care of all the behind the scenes details like payment processing, shopping, and getting your earnings to you.

My favorite feature about Poshmark is that you can throw a “Poshparty” where you and your friends (& followers…who let’s face it, are pretty much like your fashion friends!) can shop each other’s closets in a specific style or theme. Many times other bloggers have thrown parties by designers or style. My favorite parties include designers and styles like Kate Spade, JCrew, preppy, chic and cheap, Michael Kors, Chanel, LOFT, black and white, and of course all the wonderful shoe parties! Poshmark is a great way to shop other fashionable friend’s closets and share your own pieces in a sociable setting white being able to make some cash off of your cute clothes! I’m extremely excited to have been invited to host a Poshparty in the coming weeks – will definitely update on details!

To list an item is FREE and when your item sells Poshmark takes only 20% to cover the transaction fees and keep themselves up and running. After you’ve sold your items you can either use your earning as credits towards a new purchase or cash out at any time!

Pros & Cons of POSHMARK: Pros: Free to list, reaches many people, and you are able to search by style and find curated fashion parties. Cons: 20% commission is taken out when you make a sale (really not a big deal but it’s good to know!), only available on iPhones currently, & in order to get some of the best deals you have to spend a bit of time searching and negotiating with sellers.

Thanks to the Poshmark team I was able to sell off a lot of my closet by being featured as one of the “suggested users” last week. I grew from just 200 followers to 54,000+ in just 3 days! Thank you POSHMARK! :) Everyone should definitely try out Poshmark – it’s a great way to get some cash for your unused items and to find more clothes to fall in love with at unbeatable prices! Here’s some of my items that I’ve successfully sold on Poshmark:

Pip pip cherrio! Yes, I admit, happening upon a British tele-booth in the middle of Pasadena, CA has spurred on my bit of a British accent (which I’ve been told by natives is actually quite close to the real deal). Recently I was introduced to Bib & Tuck, an amazing site that allows you to connect with other fashionable girls and trade clothes! I happened upon this adorable black and white tweed Ann Taylor cropped blazer with ribbon tie in front being “Bibbed” by fellow blogger Christine Herr of NYCPRETTY.COM. (Check out her incredible blog – she’s got mad style and a sense of humor! She calls herself “a tomboy in heels“. Very cute!) I fell in love with it immediately and could not take my eyes away from it! Christine styled this blazer in such a cute way in an outfit/blog post here: http://nycpretty.com/2012/10/01/boot-up/

Black and white is not only a classic combo but it happens to be a current runway ’13 trend as well! Wearing black and white is a bit of a comfort zone for me, if you’ve been following my outfit posts or have personally seen my closet then you know this well! It’s fun to dabble with the trends of print and color but I especially appreciate it when the classics become modern again!

Exciting collaboration news about one of my favorite designers this month! Kate Spade NY has partnered with Keds to design a line of sneakers in the signature Keds shape featuring Kate Spade prints. Keds are all grown up now and far from the little white shoe standard from my childhood cheerleading stunts – this is exciting!

This cute collaboration will be sold at Kate Spade stores, Nordstrom, and on Nordstrom.com starting February 2013. Lucky for us, the price points will be much lower than the Kate Spade NY designer line. I’ve certainly got my eye on those classic Kate Spade polka dotted and pink pairs! Which are your favorite?

In the meantime, here’s my favorite Kate Spade NY shoes available now… SEE HERE

It’s finally hit, the Holiday Season! One of my favorite parts of this time of year is being able to spend so much time with friends and family at various holiday parties all throughout the season. For the next month I’ve got 5 parties I’m already planning on going to. And you bet your bottom dollar, I’m already planning 5 outfits to wear! It’s not an easy feat – being a constant party goer…so many outfits and so little time! This year I’m not going to fret about not having enough time or  fancy party outfits – instead, I’m looking to borrow from Rent the Runway‘s incredible closet! I’m head over heels in love with their expansive designer collections and amazing prices.

Rent the Runway is an easy solution when trying to figure out your holiday outfits this year – not only do they have incredible designer garments for you to choose from, but the perks that come along with their programs are great too! Did you know that in addition to super low prices (some rentals as low as $10!) they also send you multiple sizes to make sure you get the best fit!
