It’s no secret that I love Forever 21…my outfit posts almost always include a piece or two (or 5!) from the ever affordable and stylish shop. Followed closely by H&M and Old Navy, this brand is bringing fashionable garments to the masses!

1. They are affordable – most of their items are around $20 with almost everything under $50, so I don’t have to break my bank to look cute!

2. Forever 21 was founded right here in my home town of Los Angeles!

3. They are up to speed with current trends and carry the best designer inspired pieces for the most affordable prices.

4. No size descrimination – unlike other popular clothing lines (*cough cough* Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch) Forever 21 caters to people of all sizes. I appreciate that this company has made the same fashionable pieces available to people from size small-3x.

5. They spread the “Good Word” by printing John 3:16 on the bottom of each of their yellow shopping bags.

Here’s my current favorite outwear pieces they have up now. Wintertime for me means classic pieces like long black pea-coats, fitted blazers, the occasional statement coat in leopard print or red, and lots of classic silohettes. What’s your favorite outwear style? There’s something for everyone at Forever21.com Check it out!

A fantastic leopard print coat can last you for ages! Spending $65 on this one might not be a bad idea!
Faux fur lined bomber jacket – classic boyish look gets the girly fitted treatment here. Love it!

What I’m Wearing: Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson Pumps: 5.5″ of sexy cutouts and color-blocking!

I most recently added these incredible platform pumps to my collection. They are by far the most adventurous shoes I now own. Yes, much more adventurous than say hiking boots (which i actually don’t own haha!)…..I mean come-on, it’d be a hell of a crazy time trying to hike a mountain in these bad boys! :P They are 5.5″ high, have a huge chunky platform, super sexy cutouts with elastic across the top in black; the platform’s aqua base is suede, the dark blue and hot pink swirled cutouts are shiny & smooth leather. Walking around in these for me is such a breeze….they have the greatest amount of minimal cushion (on the toe pad and at the heel) so it doesn’t look bulky, but it lets my soles feel comfy – not to mention I’ve had some practice in walking in 5 inch heels!

I’m completely in love with these pumps, not only for the fact that they are ultra sexy and colorful, but they instantly turn me into a giant fashion monster. Translation: “I’m only 5’5″ barefoot, when I slip these on, I suddenly am towering at 5’11″, which is definitely a new height for me!” Seriously my legs are perfectly toned and miles long, my butt gets a nice lil lift (just keeping it real – you know it happens to you too & you love it!), and I no longer have to get on my toes to kiss my 6-foot hunkin’ boyfriend. – Oh I wonder if he realllly reads my blogs….haha, we’ll find out! -

I bought my first pair of platform pumps just 6 months ago….they were GUESS leopard print & black glossy leather, peep toe 5 inch heels. Since then, I have failed to fall in love with a heel that doesn’t have a platform! Sure I see ‘regular’ high heels and I think they’re cute…I try ‘em on and I just don’t get the same adrenaline rush of growing 5″ in a split second…it’s just not the same. Although platforms aren’t the most practical shoe in the world, in my opinion they are the most beautiful…and fun to wear!

Coloring Outside the Lines

Today's outfit...as posted on POSE iPhone app

Coloring inside the lines is easy…..you just follow the gentle curve of the predestinated area…it’s deciding to color outside the lines that takes courage. For me, coloring in the lines is jeans and a tee shirt…and I know how to do that reaaally well; but I don’t want to keep it up. I was bored of that….it was just so…..’normal’. I want to be extraordinary – therefore I am. I have decided to dress like I mean it. Recently on Pintrest (P.S. FOLLOW ME if you haven’t already!) I saw the most daring quote: “Dress everyday like you’re going to get murdered in those clothes.” Gosh I think that’s extremely dramatic, but the most wonderful of ways to put it! I have started to put forth a greater amount of effort into trying new styles, mixing colors and textures and simply creating something new out of what I have.

Today you’d be proud of me: I’m wearing a yellow and white boat neck wide stripe 3/4 sleeve sweater from Forever 21, charcoal grey herringbone tweed high-waisted shorts also by Forever 21, a straw fedora hat with wide black band from Target (only $12 right now!!), completed with closed toe black suede 5 inch platform pumps by Forever 21….and various ‘grandma jewelry’. I refer to gifted and inherited jewelry ‘grandma jewelry’ because most of it has come either from a grandmother of mine or a slightly removed old-lady adoptable version of a grandma in my life. Today it’s a silver and turquoise ring in a smooth oval shape on my right hand, a clip on black, gold, silver, and white floral bracelet, simple crystal ball stud earrings, and a gorgeous diamond and silver cross and dog tag which reads the verse Galatians 5:22-23, which is the Fruit of the Spirit, from my loving boyfriend. I decided to use a clutch that I made from a vintage skirt. You can buy some clutches like these that I made here: CLUTCHES by KATE!

In the spirt of coloring outside the lines, I’d like to share an Etsy.com treasury my mother made just this morning. It was the initial inspiration for this post, FYI! <3 Thanks Mom! Be sure to check out her cutesy shop here!! P.S. Click on the photo to see the full treasury, share your love by tweeting, liking, and commenting — and but some of these fantastic items!
