While I’ve been very busy preparing for my trip to Hawaii coming up I haven’t been as diligent about my blogging. So here’s a quick update via Instagram photos! This covers my recent purchases, partying, and work life (God, I love my job! #sittingonbabies)

Photobooth time with my new L.A. Girls Poshmark friends!

My love for Poshmark is no secret…and when I found out they were hosting a Live L.A. Girls PoshParty on Thursday I had to be there! Jeff and I ventured out to Hollywood (not something we do often enough!!) and met up with the amazing team behind Poshmark and partied with the prettiest and most fashionable girls from the app! Held in the swanky Hyde Nightclub on Sunset Blvd., everyone was looking posh! I have to tell you, since joining Poshmark I have started to appreciate other girl’s fashion in a new light. If I see someone wearing a cute piece I think to myself “Oh I wonder if she’ll Poshmark that later…I would love to wear that!”

So fun to have finally met Amanada @fashionableme & Elissa @elissaemoto after befriending them in the Poshmark App!

I did just that to Elissa Emoto (shop her closet here @elissaemoto in the app). She had an amazing Jessica Simpson clutch in black lace up on her closet and when I saw it I knew it’d be the perfect accessory to my outfit for the evening. Being the amazingly sweet girl she is, she hand delivered it to me at the party! We had started following each other on Poshmark a couple weeks ago and as time went on and we started talking more we realized we had a lot in common! We’re both bloggers, have similar taste in fashion, and we live literally 10 minutes away from each other! We decided there was no better place than the LIVE L.A. Girls PoshParty to have our first “Blind Date”! So amazing that because of Poshmark I now have a new friend and blogging contact! :)

Manish, the founder of Poshmark was even there to party with us! Such an honor to meet the man behind this amazing company! He has a heart of gold!

Elissa brought along more friends to the party…I felt like I had 3 new bff’s instantly! Such great girls!!

Best Ever BF Award goes to…my man! Such a trooper to join all of us ladies at our fashion party!

It may have been cloudy and drizzling rain last week in Los Angeles and thankfully the spring sun is warming us today, but I’m dreaming of summertime. The warmth of the sun in my hair, the glow of my tanned skin, the roar of waves crashing on the sand in constant motion, a light breeze bringing in the salted scent of the ocean…ah summer! In just a few short weeks I will be lounging on the shores of Hawai’i with my love taking in a full week of sunshine and summer dreams. I’m extremely excited as I’ve never been to Hawai’i before…let alone flew over an ocean! (I’ve only ever traveled to Mexico, Canada, and around the US.) I’m finishing up my shopping for my tropical getaway these next two weeks and have become increasingly inspired by Louise Dahl Wolfe‘s photography.

Although the majority of her work is in black and white, she began to integrate color photography into the body of Harper’s Bazaar at a pivotal time in the fashion industry. She is noted for having a very distinct style of photographs: full focus, outdoor settings with natural light, and commonly in exotic locations. (Hawai’i inspirations justified!) Her photographs were featured in Harper’s Bazaar for two full decades (1936 to 1958) and her artistic style defined and shaped the publication’s overall tone for those years and has continued to be held as a high standard in fashion photography perfection to this day. During these two decades she contributed 86 covers well as hundreds of color and many more black-and-white images!

Her talents and hard work helped to inspire and cultivate many iconic photographers that continued to capture the ever evolving scene of fashion. She inspired the talent and works of fellow photographers, artists, and fashion personalities such as Irving Penn (so in love with his work!!!), Cecil Beaton, Carmel Snow, Diana Vreeland, Carson McCullers, and Edith Sitwell.

DIY: Vintage Lion Head Belt/Necklace

Once again, Poshmark (#shopmycloset) has proved a place to find sweet little treasures at unbeatable prices! I bought a small lot of vintage findings that had fallen off old clothing such as an authentic Chanel zipper pull, two genuine Chanel buttons, and this adorable lion head inspired by the iconic Chanel Lion. I have plans to have the two buttons professionally made into rings by a local jeweler and to possibly turn the zipper pull into a brooch/pin to wear on lapels and scarfs.

I lucked out when I was ready to create something new with the lion head, it already had two rings on the back of it that the chain easily fit through. (If not, I probably would have had to take that one to the jeweler too.) To create this piece, I simply bought gold chain ($10 for 5 yards in Downtown LA on Maple Ave.) and strung it through the loops on the back of the lion head. Wanting to have some more detailing, I decided to add in two more layers of chain for the back of the belt using small craft pliers. I was finished within minutes thanks to my days of making feather earrings!

Viola! I have made a gold vintage inspired belt for myself, which if I say so myself, looks amazing with a tailored little black dress! Best part about this DIY is that it can easily be changed into long statement necklace!
